Social Media Engagement Strategies (Part 2.)

Welcome to the second and final instalment of our blog on effective social media engagement.

Here we continue to cover a number of simple yet powerful strategies you can use to really enhance your business presence and customer engagement across social media.

And away we go…

# It Up (but don’t go overboard)

Make use of hashtags. Create a hashtag specific to your business and include it in your Facebook/Instagram bio as an easy way to influence or find content your customers have posted. When you click on the hashtag it will bring up various photos/customer posts that have made use of it. Encourage your customers to use this hashtag when posting content related to your venue and be sure to then re-post.

Also make use of trending hashtags that might be relevant to your business, for example #internationalburgerday

We recommend using between 1-5 hashtags per post on social media.

Post Regular Content

Don’t post too infrequently. Consider creating a content calendar to help you keep on top of things. Mix up the content. Try a combination of photos, videos, GIFS and memes to keep things fresh and interesting.

Engage with the latest trends and issues relevant to your menu & what you do. Show the human side of things.

Time Things Appropriately

Post frequently but also at appropriate times (maybe don’t post about a brunch special at 10pm on a Friday night!)

Make your content timely and topical. Special events and holidays are great times to post content. Valentine’s Day, Christmas, April Fool’s Day or Grand Final Day are all good opportunities to have a bit of fun and connect with your followers.

Double Check, Monitor and Adapt

Proofread, preview and THEN post. Make sure you’ve not overlooked possible spelling or grammatical errors.

(Or something like this!!)

Monitor all responses and be sure to engage. Create a conversation.

Keep tabs on what posts achieved the highest rate of engagement and keep that in mind when it comes to creating content in future. Discover what works and what doesn’t.

Finally, be prepared to adapt and update your approach over time. Social Media is a constantly evolving beast.

...With the above tips in mind (and those from our first blog instalment on this topic) you should be able to really step up your social media engagement and create a strong rapport between your business and your customers.

Happy, engaged customers = positive word of mouth, increased website traffic and repeat orders. What’s not to love?
